33 Months Natural

For the first time since wearing my hair in its natural state I decided to flat iron my hair. It took me about 4 hours to complete, so therefore I will not be flat ironing my hair ever again. And I look weird with straight hair, I prefer curly hair.

I'm Bored....Time For A Change

Yes I'm officially bored with my hair...again. So whenever I'm bored I usually find something to do with my hair. This time I decided to cut my hair at chin length(when in stretch state). So it's sort of like a bob cut and yes I'm in love with it.

After cutting my hair also refreshed the color at my ends only (not the new growths). I then shampooed and conditioned my hair, after that I Deep Conditioned with  Roushun Olive Essence conditioner mixed with honey and evoo. I cover my hair with a plastic cap and kept that in my hair for 22-23 hours. My hair felt soo good after that.

Gonna try my best not to cut my hair again for the rest of the year.... But who knows what will happen before 2013 comes to a close, because I'm very scissor happy when it come to my hair. For Right now I'm very much in love with the length at the back.

Hair Trim

Before Trim
So I sort of made it a routine to trim my hair every 3 months but when I made it to my 30 months of growing out my hair, I was going to skip. Then I was looking at some pictures I've taken over that 3 month period when I saw they way my hair had started to tapered. I hated it so very much, so yeah I grabbed my scissors  and cut about an inch off all over. I am sort of tempted to cut a lot more off just because I've always love cutting my hair when they reach a certain length. It's Something that I've done for years while I was relaxing my hair. So it's kind of hard to break that habit.

Wash And Go Attempt #2

This time around it came out more to my liking. It definitely was drying way faster than the last time. The only problem was the gel that I had used wasn't to my liking at all but I did love my results even though I just kept it for just that day. Simple because I hate letting go my hair like that for more than one day.

30 Months Natural

Today makes it 30 months since I've been going out my hair since my last hair cut. Here's a quick length check.

30 Months Length Check

Hair Update

I've been MIA for the past 3 months because I've been really busy with my training. Here's a quick look at how I've been wearing my hair while going to class.

I kept my hair very simple by doing twist and twist outs. Wigs, hats  and a headtie for those days when I felt like doing absolutely nothing.

27 Months Natural

Yesterday I hit my 27 months mark of being natural. I decided to trim my hair ends this time around because it was well needed. I clipped about 1-inch off all around my entire head. This time I stretched my hair using the braided method before trimming, by doing that it gave me a clear understanding of where I should cut.

Banana Deep Conditioning Treatment

After coloring my hair I am back to doing weekly treatments because I know that my strands are going to need some extra TLC. This week I decided to give the Banana Deep Treatment a try.

How I made my concoction:
2 large ripe bananas
Sunflower Oil
Mayonnaise
V05 Moisturizing Conditioner

I blended the first 3 ingredients until smooth. I then poured the mixture into a container and mixed in the conditioner.

I then applied the mixture to freshly co-washed hair, making sure to coat each strand evenly. Afterwards I cover my hair with a plastic cap and let it sit for 20-30 minutes. I rinsed my hair out with warm water then applied my regular conditioner and left it in for about 2 minutes before rinsing it out with cool water.

I absolutely loved how my hair felt afterwards. I diffinatly will be doing this deep conditioner again, but I will probably add some peppermint/lavender oil to it simply because I hated the smell.

Hair Color

For the past month I've been really bored and unhappy with my hair. My hair has always been a quick and easy way for me to express myself and change up the way I look, so after numerous research I decided that I wanted to color my hair. I've never liked having dark hair when I use to relax, so having my hair in its natural state is not an exception at all. After figuring out which color I wanted to achieve and how to go about achieving that it I went and bought the hair color.

The color that I bought was Clairol Nice'nEasy 106B-Natural Dark Champagne Blonde. Yes, Blonde. Because I wanted a Light Brown and my hair was originally a Dark Brown after researching I found out that using a blonde hair color will give me that.

On Friday I got really bored and decided to just go ahead and color my hair. Right now I am very happy with the results. I can't stop admiring my hair, I really love the way the color turned out. It looks way better in my hair than it did on the strand test. The only thing that I'm not too pleased about is the fact that I ran out of color, so some of my roots are not colored. I'm not too worried about that because I can always retouch those areas whenever I please.

I also decided to add a few highlights at the front using a BrightGold hair dye. Both colors looks lovely and complements each other.

Protective Style

These are by far the best Afro Kinky Twist Braids that I've found. I love the way they look and how they feel. The hair is by Bijoux Beauty Elements, it is from their Realistic collection, it's called Afro Kinky Bulk and it's 20" long. I don't know how long I'm gonna keep these in for but I love how real they look in my hair.

2 Years Natural Anniversary

Oh my, how time passes by quickly. My two years anniversary is here already, it's so hard to believe. Well, I guess it's true when they say that time flies when you're having fun. I've certainly been enjoying my hair growing out from that last shaved style that I did back in 2011.

Wow! That was something, my family thought I had last my mind after constantly cutting my shoulder length relaxed hair over a 4 month period. Right now I can honestly say that I am so glad that I did and if I had to do it all over again I definitely would. Today my hair has grown just a little pass my shoulders.

I am very happy with the progress that I have made so far and I pray that my journey for growing healthy hair continue to be amazing.

Product Review: Blue Magic Organics - Super Sure Gro

I know most people who are natural restrain from putting un-natural products especially hair grease in their hair. But for me personally I don't mind it at all anymore. Last year I ran out of shea butter and needed something for my hair immediately, all I had was hair grease so I used it after moisturizing my hair. By the end of the week when I took down my twist I have to admit that they were the best twist out ever. My hair was so well defined  and soft I can't recall my hair ever looking that good, I was happy.

Earlier this year I went to get some more Shea Butter but changed my mind because of the price(EC 25$ for a 10oz container). So instead I picked up the Blue Magic Organics Super Sure Gro hair grease(EC 11$ for a 12oz container) since I have been using their Leave-In Conditioners for over a year now, I decided to give the hair grease a try and I am very much impressed with the product.

    Wash And Go Attempt #1

I've always wanted to try a wash and go for a while now, but never really got around to doing it. For Old Years Night (New Years Eve) church service I wanted to wear my hair out, since I've been enjoying wearing my hair in twist outs for the past month I thought that it would be a great time to try a wash and go.

So on Sunday around midday I shampooed and conditioned my hair, then I applied a leave in conditioner and apply the gel section by section. After that I decided to mist my hair with a little oil. Everything seemed ok except for the white residue which I know was from the leave in. Anyway I decided to let my hair air dry for the rest of the day. As time went by I realized that my hair was not drying as fast as I wanted it to, so got the blow dryer. I tried to keep the heat as far as possible because I hate heat since I always gives me a headache. Anyway got tired and just decided to leave it. When I noticed that it was 7 o'clock I got a spray bottle filled it with some warm water, sprayed my hair section by section and squeezed that gunk from my hair because I knew I was not gonna sleep with wet sticky hair.

So the next morning(New Years Eve) I co-washed my hair and did plaitt and twists.
I would say that my first wash and go is a complete failure. But I intend on trying again.
